HTML FAQ

What is HTML?
HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language. It is basically a system that let's you "markup" text documents with pieces of code that tell a browser what to do. This format allows any computer with a HTML browser the capability of understanding the HTML document. HTML is limited by itself, as it can only modify text and do a little formatting. Every revision of HTML has provided more and more means for formatting and multimedia enhancements. HTML's limitations have caused the birth of many other scripting languages to do things that HTML can't. VBScript, JAVA, JavaScript, Perl, etc., all offer ways to extend the usefullness of HTML.

Do I have to know HTML to make a web page?
No, although it is highly recommended. It is easy to learn and knowing it will give you a great foundation to expand new Internet technologies on. Visit our links section for some great books on learning HTML. If you don't want to hassle with learning HTML, you can easily get by with a program like Microsoft® FrontPage®.
